We’re at the Columbus airport, and the wifi is FREE! (Did you know that Atlanta charges $7.95?!?) Good thing the 2.5 hour wait is here and not there. Got up this morning, had the waffle buffet for the last time (moment of silence for the breakfast buffet..no, not really). What IS it with little birds stuck in Ohio buildings? Last year I remember one in this airport, and this year there was one in the convention center and now there’s another one in this airport. There should be some enterprising person with a pistol-fired bird net who goes around rescuing these little guys. Oh, there are two birds flying about – good they aren’t alone!
Today was the last day on the floor, and saw me in two book signing lines and visiting a couple of yarn companies. No wait, three signings – Stephanie Japel, Antje Gillingham, and Vickie Howell. I did go by Prism, but didn’t order. The only yarn that wasn’t fuzzy or hairy or eyelashy – or that wasn’t enormously expensive – was their new sock yarn. I looked at it and it looks like Jitterbug! Needless to say, it was off to Unique Kolours, aka Colinette, to see the new colors of Jitterbug and Cadenza. They also have a new yarn. But that’s for later. Gotta have some surprises…
Then I went to the Aslan Trends, which is a fairly new company. I’ve tried out some of their yarns (you can see my Del Cerro project here at Ravelry) so I think people are really going to like them. Melissa Leapman has been designing for them recently, and her designs are wearable and simple. These yarns have fantastic pattern support, including kid stuff, so I’m looking sharing this new company with you. Another new company will be here sooner, though – not sure if I mentioned it before I left, but we do have another brand new company coming in – J-Knits will be here in a couple of weeks.
Raced back to the hotel, in time to sit for a bit, then we loaded up and headed here. Ohio is a lovely state – people so nice – but we’re ready to get home. I think it’s actually cooler in Jacksonville! (Will have access to the card reader at home to get all the pics up!
