Are all the lights out in California?
I really love Crystal Palace. The company is great to work with, and their products are unique and *fun* and feel good. But I have to ask, are all the lights out in California?? Because the online colorcard showed “saffron” as a yellow. In person it’s a beautiful melon orange. Yes, orange. It’s SO NOT Hufflepuff yeller! Maybe they’re just going by photos taken in the dark with flash? In earlier shots I took of this sock, it did actually appear more yellow. I ordered this yarn because 1. I wanted to get this yarn in the shop anyway and 2. my first choice of yarn to get the Hufflepuff colors right was backordered. So I took a shot with the Panda Wool. In case anyone is wondering, I really really like the Panda Wool. It’s lovely to work with – it’s a wool, bamboo, and nylon blend – see in the photo how nicely it’s behaving? It’s been a great partner in this prototype Hufflepuff sock. But good feel and lovely behavior still don’t make it yellow. So back to square one and waiting for the original choice which hopefully will arrive in time. What’s the yarn? Can’t tell ya… some things have to remain a surprise for the secret sock recipient, you see. Oh hey, good news, the double punctured index finger on my left hand has healed up right nice and doesn’t seem to be slowing anything down. I’ve learned from this experience that I was not meant to be a seamstress, but a knitter. (In case I had any doubt!) On a less holey, more-Hufflepuff note… anyone ever knit a badger?
