Ever wonder how boys knit? Wonder no more. This is how. I used to think boys were only good for carrying yarn about. But they’re good for cutting their yarn with very scary looking pocket knives also! The photo turned out quite unplanned with Mr. Dean’s glare over that Burly Spun scarf – cool, huh?

The midnight knit was great last Saturday night, and here’s some of the evidence.  The theme was a very early Cinco de Mayo, sans Cuervo.  (Public Service Announcment:  Please don’t mix drinking and knitting needles.)  I’m not sure how much actual knitting was accomplished, what with all the cupcakes and homemade cookies (thanks to Kate and Mary!) and the doughnuts (thanks to Tricia!) and the queso… but I had fun!

I did a favor for my favorite big box book store. It pretends to be all cozy with the couches and chairs scattered about, but it’s not. I still love it regardless. But last night they had a magazine in the wrong place… it was a small one and it was in the craft section. I always check out the craft section, even though I sell most of those magazines. The knitting ones, anyway. But this magazine had no business in the craft section. Buying yarn keeps me sane after all – and that’s a lot more important. So I checked all the other places this little magazine could live, and finally found it a new home. In front of the luxury pools.

I’m in a swap.  It’s a very cool one for Hogwarts – to tide knitting fans of Harry over until the next book is released later this summer.  I’ve never done a swap before.  It’s really happening!  Shouldn’t one get a microphone and spotlight for such occasions?  No?  Hmm… okay.  Anyway, I need to answer some very probing questions so here goes:

1. What Hogwarts house have you been sorted into? Gryffindor!
2. Shoe size? 8.5-9 US
3. Foot Length? 10 inches
4. Foot Circumference? 9.5 inches
5. List your three favorite double-point needle brands, including size and length.
a. Crystal Palace Bamboo (Sizes 1.5 & 2, 6″)
b. Colonial Rosewood (Size 2, 5.5″)
c. Lantern Moon (Size 3, 5″)
6. Would you like to try a new brand needle? If so, which brand? Size? Length?
Sure, would love to try anything!  (Except Brittany.  I can break those with just my thoughts.)
7. If you are a RAVENCLAW, do you prefer the colors in the film or the book? Do you have a strong preference? N/A
8. Are you willing to have an international Hogwarts Sock Pal? Sure!

This project was really quick and easy, even with the dreaded sewing. I’ve never thought of putting a lining in a felted bag, but the stripes on this are too cute. Pick Up Sticks gave me everything but the needles (knitting and sewing) to complete it. See the finished clutch in 2007 Bell Ringers!
